Hibernation

Hibernation

Not sure about the band yet. At first skim-listen, they tend to get a bit Muse-y, but that's prog for you. Whatever my feelings, these are artists, trying to create a unique sound naturally. This track is ace, long and evolving and has fucking brilliant guitar solo towards the end. 21st century rock music.

Erothyme - Swept in the Dust (feat. Rachel Zen)

Aha! Simply copy + paste embed code and stick it in the middle of HTML Piece of piss. he says.. Chilled, ambient electronica with female vocals, and then starts getting laidback funky. ALl good. So much edm stuff around though, might stick to songs/ vocal stuff of any genre. rare.

Dada Life - Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker (ACE FUTURE Remix)

Dada Life - Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker (ACE FUTURE Remix)

Might just do it like this from now on. Seeing as I don't really want to write ABOUT the music, I just want to share great stuff with people. Who knows? As a rough guide, this is noisy and dirty - they call it Trap. Kick out the Jams for the c.21

I'd much prefer to be able to embed the code so you can play it direct from here though. I'll give it a try on the next one.

After this, post titles will be the artists' names I think.

2. We Are Augustines

I'm an old hand at this now.
(I'll miss out the part where I had to change the font size three times, etc.)

Here's the links, hopefully:

(which I think is th equickest way to their music.)

2 free streaming tunes - 'Book of James' and 'Chapel Song'

I genuinely believe this band are the next Kings of Leon - they don't sound like them, apart from the fact that they use guitars and are American, but they have a unique sound and over the next couple of years are going to get very big, depending on what they do with their music. They just have that cool melodic feel - it will grow and grow on you. And I will still listen to this in 20 years time.

For youtube lovers:

I just picked the first video I came across in the search engine. I don't watch videos. Not even mine. I like music.

I am, of course, well aware that both of these first two artists are reasonably well-known on the independent scale, so maybe in the next post I will try and find someone with hardly any following.

hello.

I’m starting this blog to try and curate and deliver the best music I can find out there. It's not original, it's not unique, but it is my perspective on music (which is,) and after 25 years of listening I can tell the difference. Of course there's no accounting for taste, but most people have none, hence the million-selling artists of today aren't generally fit to lick the boots of yesterday's heroes.
My aim is to help the best artists become the million-sellers of the future so that if aliens ever visited, we could actually be proud of our most popular culture. Mostly I just love great music that makes me sit up and think "that's different," or "I didn't expect that" or "Fuck yeah, turn it up!"

I'm also going to learn how to write a blog, so forgive me for learning as I go along.

Most importantly, I don’t care if noone ever reads it. That should put me in a good position to remain uncorruptible. There is alot of music out there. A fucking lot. Most of it is average. But there are, I would say, at least a few hundred or thousand exciting artists that are original, unique and make me want to hear them again and again.

I’m not arsed if it’s signed or unsigned, and I don’t care what genre it is. Sometimes it will be an artist, sometimes an album and sometimes just one song. It is, however, alot of hard work trying to separate the, oh, good title for the blog. Luckily, I have collected around 60 tracks on soundcloud that I consider unique and worth checking out, so i'm covered for the next little while..

This might be a daily thing; it might be more than once a day. Most likely it will be as and when I find great new music that I want to help promote.

So, here's my two opening gambits. You should absolutely check these amazing (both American) artists out:

1. Meg Myers - www.meginthedark.com

As I said, i'm learning. Let's try embedding some pictures and music or video..

ok, one down..
damn, can't publish str8 from soundcloud. let's try a link:

http://soundcloud.com/meginthedark/tennessee

Love this track. Sh'es got 6 up there plus a remix and they're all brilliant and all free downloads.
Now i've got to work out how to embed this shit.

Let's try a video:

Ah, there we go.

What does it sound like? Well, it's always going to be far easier for you to click one of these links, listen, and decide for yourself. Like I say, the artists I pick to promote here are all going to be unique voices, though of course every one has reference points. Make your own mind up, ffs i'm not a music journalist.

Going to try and publish and do the second one in the next post...it's all new to me, I hit strings.
